Burt Hamrell is an emeritus professor in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Vermont where he spent 30 years in research on the physiology and pathophysiology of heart muscle mechanics and in teaching cardiovascular physiology to medical and allied health students. He also was director of the medical physiology course at Vermont. He continues to be invited to teach medical students cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology. He uses his combined background in internal medicine and cardiology and in cardiovascular physiology to enliven his teaching and ensure students understand the relevance of what they are learning. He has developed unique electronic learning modules to foster active learning among the students he teaches. Development of these e-resources has culminated in a book: https://www.crcpress.com/Active-Learning-of-Cardiovascular-Physiology-Active-Learning-of-Cardiovascular/Hamrell/p/book/9781138096738
